August and Connected by August Locks Are Now Directly Compatible with SmartThings
We’re thrilled to share news of our latest direct software integration —SmartThings! Samsung SmartThings is a centralized home automation platform that allows you to connect and manage your different devices through one simple app. Through this integration, we’re bringing the convenience of all of August’s locks, Yale’s Connected by August locks, and Emtek’s EMPowered Lock, directly to Samsung customers, allowing our hardware to be synced with a wide range of other products and providing even more flexibility in our customers’ lives.
While the August Smart Lock Pro + Connect and Yale Locks have been compatible with SmartThings in the past, customers had to use Z-Wave to connect SmartThings to their locks. Now, you’ll be able to directly integrate any August lock (August Smart Lock Pro, August Smart Lock), any Yale Connected by August Lock (Assure Lock SL, Assure Lock Touchscreen, Assure Lever and more), and Emtek’s Empowered Lock into SmartThings’ new integration framework with the included August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge—no SmartThings’ hub needed. This capability will be available to August, Yale and Emtek customers by CES in January 2020.
Within the SmartThings app, your experience entering and leaving your home becomes fully automated, with the same features and capabilities you’ve come to rely on with your August/Yale lock, combined with the other devices you use to automate your home. SmartThings will show your front door status, initiate a lock or unlock, and sync with your other smart home devices to turn off the lights, pause your music, initiate security cameras, turn down the thermostat, and anything else you have connected in your home.
If you’re looking to further simplify your life in the new year, look no further. Streamline your overloaded app library, let your devices work smarter for you, and enjoy even more peace of mind, convenience and trusted security with August, Yale and Emtek.
