August Home, Inc. today announced today the company is making a hardware and services donation to Meals On Wheels of San Francisco to give its drivers more secure, reliable access to its clients’ homes throughout the city of San Francisco. The partnership was announced by August co-founder and CEO, Jason Johnson, at the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center during the Nasdaq Closing Bell ceremony on December 8, 2015.
Meals On Wheels of San Francisco serves nutritious meals every day to 2,400 clients in the city of San Francisco. August believes everyone should benefit from the advancements in home access technology that helps to safely and reliably provide people, goods and services access into the home.
August’s donation to Meals On Wheels of San Francisco will comprise of August’s core hardware products: the August Smart Lock, the August Smart Keypad and August Doorbell Cam as well as the August app for iOS and Android. In addition, August will donate its company’s time and expertise to help initiate a pilot program with Meals On Wheels in early 2016 to help drivers securely and safely enter clients’ homes to deliver nutritious meals.
“It’s wonderful that we at August are able to help homebound seniors in need by donating August products, services and our employees’ time to the San Francisco chapter of Meals On Wheels,” said Jason Johnson, co-founder and CEO of August. “Managing keys has been a real challenge for Meals On Wheels chapters as they seek to feed elderly and impoverished clients, many of whom have trouble hearing or physically opening the door.”
August will add Meals On Wheels to its list of August Access partners to give the resources and expertise necessary for the pilot program to be successful.
More details of the partnership will be announced in early 2016 as the two companies work to kick off the pilot program.
